Please introduce yourself, and tell the readers about your beauty training experience?
My name is Rachel. I am a married Mum of 2 beautiful girls and living in Hull, in East Yorkshire. I have lived in Hull my whole life and I opened my salon in 2019 offering lash, brow, nail and other beauty treatments.
I am really passionate about all things beauty but particularly lash and brow treatments and I love passing my knowledge and skill onto others, helping them achieve their goals and push past them.
What got you started in the beauty industry?
After completing a Psychology degree at the University of Hull I worked as a secondary school supply teacher for 5 years – I really enjoyed being in a classroom, inspiring and helping young people reach their potential. However, once my children were born my priorities changed and I realised this was not the lifelong career for me. After various career changes and trying to figure out my path in life I started lashing for fun in 2016, at this point it was not my intention to make a career in the beauty industry. I enrolled on a day course to do something for me and very quickly my life changed for the better. I soon realised I had a real passion for lashes and would spend lots of my spare time practicing and lashing anyone that would let me.
After starting off as a mobile technician my client based grew quickly so I looked into renting a room within a local hairdressers to accommodate more clients, I couldn’t believe how quickly things were moving. I loved the salon environment! Fast forward 3 years, lots of more training and I opened my own beauty salon ‘The Beautique Room’ which has gone from strength to strength. I am now a KG Professional salon offering training and education to pass my knowledge and passion on to others. I also have employed staff members as well as self employed therapists that I have trained up working alongside me.

I am truly passionate about all elements of the training I deliver. Because the beauty industry is ever evolving I believe you can never stop learning, because of this I frequently invest in mentor courses and refresher courses for myself so I can make sure my knowledge is up to date and I can provide all my students with the best training possible.
I believe that to become successful in the beauty industry you need to start with good training, find someone who has the same passion and drive as you. You need to find a trainer that knows their stuff and provides support after the training ends – this is something I pride myself on!
Lashes/brows are unique to an individual, in my training I teach you to understand the basics of the treatment and then the additional things that will make you stand out among the crowd. For example, understanding the ratio and diameter of lash extensions a well as eye shapes and lash curls, I teach all of this as standard within my courses.

As your Brow and Lash Lift trainer I will guide you through your training in a way that suits you. Directing you through the theory elements of brow and lash lifts as well as the practical side. I will ensure that you fully understand the treatments all the health and safety essentials before you work on your model. I will encourage you to push yourself and you will leave the course feeling confident and competent in Lash Lift and Brow treatments.

What can people who sign up for Russian Volume Lash training in Hull expect from training with you?
If you’re booking onto our KG Professional Volume training then you will be qualified in Classic Lashing. Whether you trained in Classic Lashes with is or not, in our Volume Training we briefly cover all elements of theory to make sure your knowledge is up to date.
After the basics I spend time discussing diameter and ratio to ensure you can apply the correct volume fan ensuring lash safety we then move on to teaching you how to make the perfect fan using various methods to help you find the technique that suits you best. The final part of the course is model practice, where you will get to create a full set under my supervision.
As standard, a luxurious kit and my ongoing lifetime support is included with the course.
Which of KG’s professional beauty products do you recommend and which could you not live without?
I absolutely adore the KG Brow Glue. It is the must have for any make up bag and the perfect addition to any brow lamination treatment. The caster oil helps my brows stay in perfect condition and once on my brows stay perfect for the day.
I am also in love with the KG Premade fans. After hand making all my own fans all the time I have always struggled with the idea of premade fans and after trying various brands over the years and not loving the outcome I have always been sceptical but the KG ones blew me away with their perfect open fans, gorgeous pointy bases and cute little packaging. I absolutely love them!

5 years ago, If you’d have told me how much a one day lash course would have changed my life for the better I wouldn’t have believed you. I love my job, it really is true when they say find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. I love the people it has brought into my life and the experiences I have gained because of it. This can be you can too – the sky is the limit and the possibilities are literally endless.
