Please introduce yourself, and tell the readers about your beauty training experience?
My name is Katie Godfrey. I am the CEO of KG Professional and also one of the trainers in my salon based in Bedfordshire.
My opened my salon KG Salon when I was 19 years old, which is what created the whole KG Brand. I have been teaching for over 10 years and launched our product range over 8 years ago. I wanted the highest of standards across salons and within the industry so that was my reason for launching KG Professional.
I am also a business mentor to the hair and beauty industry. I love helping people start businesses and working with those that have been in business for a while, pushing them to the next level. My podcast “The Life Of KG” has lots of free content for those that would like to find out more.
I am also the co-owner of “Salon Franchise” a consultancy company in the hair & beauty industry. Plus co-owner of “World Lash University” conference & awards which is partnered with “The Lash Games” at Olympia Beauty.
Oh and above all, I am a Mummy.
What got you started in the beauty industry?
I left school at 13 years old due to being bullied. I left with no qualifications at all. I started college and was studying “Level 1 Beauty Therapy” at Barnfield College in Luton. I loved the beauty side of things but really disliked education and studying in a large environment. Which is why I am so passionate about our training courses now. At this time I was modelling which was helping me build my confidence again and that was all I wanted to do and could see myself doing. I dropped out of college and carried on with my passion for modelling.
When I was 18 years old a launched my first business. A model agency called KG Model Management. I worked from home and had models working all around the world for the agency. I got sick of working from home and wanted a base. It was always one of my dreams to open a Tanning shop one day as I loved tanning. A building that I always loved in Barton Le Clay, Bedfordshire become available to rent. I decided to have half the building my model agency and the other half a tanning shop.
This is when KG Salon was born. Within the 6 months of being open, local clients were asking for more treatments. Treatments I wasn’t qualified in and needed staff. I decided to close the agency down and turn the building into a full beauty salon. I took of an amazing team and I qualified myself in treatments. My favourite treatment was eyelash extensions which I have a complete passion for and went on to winning many awards.
Where are your Bedfordshire beauty courses located?
All training courses are held at KG Salon. 4A Bedford Road, Barton Le Clay, Bedfordshire, MK45 4JU. There is plenty of free parking and we are nearby to local shops and also hotels incase you need to stay over. We are straight off the M1.

I keep my training courses small. In all our courses the maximum students is 6 students at a time so everyone gets a lot of 121 time. I also offer 121 training for those that don’t like learning in a group. After being on so many courses myself over the years I really wanted to make my courses different. Go that extra mile and offer all the support I could after the course.
After you learn a new treatment, wether that is nails, brows or lashes it can be very overwhelming. We hand hold you through this process in the course and after the course. After the course we offer unlimited support through head office and our dedicated facebook group with access to all our trainers. We also offer a business course worth over £999 for free to get you started in business. A lot of the time our students are mums, someone wanting a new career or a sideline. Many have not been in business before, so we love to help them on their way.

I love teaching Classic Lashes. I would say classic lashes is one of the hardest treatments you will learn and thats because it is so detailed and fiddly to do. I make you feel extremely comfortable in our courses so it isn’t overwhelming. We take our time and don’t move onto the next part of the course until you fully understand. I have no set end time to the course as it depends how much the student needs me and how long they take the pick up. We work though manuals in the morning and all the theory behind lash extensions. We then work on training heads before our live models then come in where you will complete a full set of lashes.
What I love about this course also is the kit. We offer a full kit within the course price to start your new business or treatment. Everything you need is in this kit and you will be able to get around 10 treatments from this training kit making your money back and more from the course.
After the course I am always available for ongoing support, seeing your images of your work and helping you progress even more. All our trainers are also on hand to help which is amazing.
What can people who sign up for Russian Volume training in Bedfordshire expect from training with you?
I have such a passion for Russian Volume Lashes. I trained in Russian volume lashes when they first launched. I flew to New York to learn this treatment to be able to bring in back to my students and we was one of the first training academies to be able to offer Russian Volume Lash training.
In my courses I teach you 4 different ways of Russian Volume. I am more than confident that when you leave the course you will pick up a technique that you love in this treatment.
In the morning we work through manuals, theory, the difference between classic and Russian volume lashes. Then move onto different fanning techniques, do lots of fan practise before we move onto our live models. You will complete a set of Russian Volume lashes before you leave the course.
You will also receive a kit with everything you need to preform this new treatment. Me and the team will also support you in this treatment after the course with business course, marketing help and advice.
Which of KG’s professional beauty products do you recommend and which could you not live without?
Oh this is a hard one. As the creator of the products I love them all. But if I have to pick I would say;
KG Lash Shampoo. I love this for many reasons. It is so important to clean your lashes and a lot of clients and lash artists don’t realise this when they have the treatment. Cleaning your lashes keeps them free of any infections and bacteria, keeps them clean and helps with your retention, making your lashes last longer. In the treatment room you can use this product before you start infilling your clients lashes or before a new set of lashes. The client can also buy this lash shampoo in salon from you so they can use at home. With its stunning packaging it looks stunning in their bathrooms and on your retail area in salos. The Lash Shampoo also brings you in extra income as a retail product which is very important.
KG Platinum Glue. This is our newest glue on the market and its my favourite. It is super fast and as a fast lasher myself I needed something like this. It drys in 0.5 seconds. So you do need to be an experienced lash artist to use this glue. I also love this glue as its so strong and the strongest out our glue range. For them clients that have oily lashes or retention problems that you just can’t seem to fix, you need to use this glue for them clients.
KG Platinum Lashes. These are our latest lashes that we have brought onto the market. I still love our other lashes, but after years of the industry changing and different ways of working I wanted to bring out lashes that had everything I would love to change within them. First of all the packaging is zero plastic. It is all cardboard boxes, so no more plastic waste making them environmentally friendly. They have their lengths down the side of each strip so you will never not know which length you are using, they are foiled backed so you won’t have left over sticky paper on your lash pallet. They are super easy to fan and my favourite part…. they are the darkest of lashes I have ever seen in my career. They are so black and have zero blue kicking through.

I had to travel across the world to train with someone I new was going to be amazing and change my career. So even if a training provider isn’t on your doorstep, travel to them! Ok I am not saying travel across the world like I did, but if it means you need to travel 1-3 hours to get to a good course that your going to learn so much from and change your career then do it.
